East Coast port strike, will the shelves be empty again?
*** UPDATE ***
Thankfully, this strike was diverted until further negotiations with the current contract was extended to Jan 15. Even in a short period of time, the ports were closed, over 54 ships were held up, and it is likely to take two to three weeks for the normal flow of goods to be re-established.
“The decision to end the current strike and allow the East and Gulf coast ports to reopen is good news for the nation’s economy,” the National Retail Federation said in a statement. “The sooner they reach a (final) deal, the better for all American families.”
Sadly, here we go again. Long delays and increases are now imminent – even one day can backlog the system for up to 2 weeks. This is going to take a strong team in logistics to navigate this strike. Please know that we at RLR have a great logistic team and will work diligently to move your product through the supply chain.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Here’s praying for an amicable, fast resolve!
